The quayside in Kos harbour, my memories are of heat and complete happiness, with sea, saiing and wonderful company. This beautiful tree got me to reach for my pen.
Another quayside in the Mediterranean, this time in Croatia, where everyone was enormous, like great whales.
Also in Croatia, the beautiful young people are sunning themselves in a group and all talking to other beautiful people. This picture started a fascination with me of drawing people talking on their phones.

Our boat moored alongside this quay in Western Turkey, and being held up by customs, it seemed a great moment to draw.
As I drew this I fretted at my ineptitude with perspective. Only later did I discover that it is a very rare seven sided form, the fountain of Hippocrates in Kos. It was very hot, and I jammed myself into the only corner of available shade.
The metro system in Lisbon is really beautiful, and the faces of the people being a real cross section of humanity. I drew this as a fantasy of what my memory might be of this buzzy place.
